Depending on wind direction, this station captures either landing approaches or takeoffs — whichever phase passes over the terrace. One phase at a time. These figures reflect observed traffic, not total airport volume.

Atmospheric conditions

The wind
decides everything.

LPPT's runway runs SSW–NNE. The wind decides which way traffic flows. With a north wind, aircraft approach from the south — descending over the Tejo and the city centre before touching down on RWY 03, crossing directly over my terrace on final approach. With a south wind, they take off on RWY 21, climbing towards the SSW, crossing the terrace before reaching the Tejo.

RWY 03
North wind — landing over the terrace ✦
Planes approach from the south and land over my terrace. Close, slow, full-frame — most impactful shots.
RWY 21
South wind — takeoff over the terrace
Planes take off and climb over my terrace heading north. Higher, faster — less impactful shots.
